Following an explosion and subsequent fire that displaced dozens of Calloway Cove Apartments residents and sent seven others to the hospital, SAC Collective managing partner Greg Leb decided it was time to provide comfort and aid to his fellow community members.

And in pursuing such an endeavor, Leb also felt that bringing a familiar face with him might just contribute a little more joy to the families who had been struck by an unexpected tragedy.

And who better to accompany him than Jacksonville Jaguars star cornerback Jalen Ramsey?

Thus, on Sunday, July 28, the two visited a nearby Travel Inn and Suites where many of the residents had evacuated to.

Leb and Ramsey clasped hands with the families and joined them in prayer. Additionally, as the hotel is currently only capable of providing microwaves to those temporarily staying, the two took the time to pass out hot meals given to them by Capital Grille.

Many of the residents, it seemed, had not had a home cooked meal in days, and Leb and Ramsey were happy to lessen their sorrows, even if only for a day.

“It’s just a sad, very sad, unfortunate tragedy, honestly,” Ramsey told News4Jax. “At the end of the day, I just try to support them, and thank God that everybody’s OK.”
